ABOUT
After graduating with honors from the University of Southern California, Abby moved with her husband to Washington D.C. to work in the political world. When Abby became pregnant with her son in 2011, she immediately sought out a midwife and looked forward to experiencing an unmedicated birth in a hospital setting. Her life was profoundly changed when her son was born in October of that year, and she knew then that her calling was to midwifery, to walking alongside other women as they journey through pregnancy on their path to motherhood.
Abby enrolled in midwifery school in California, and quickly became engrossed in her studies, while apprenticing with two busy homebirth practices, attending over 100 births as a student midwife and doula.
In January 2016 Abby gave birth to a daughter at home, assisted by her Aunt, her midwife and mentor. In September 2020 she welcomed her third child, a second boy, at home.
Meet ABBY
Abby has been licensed through the Medical Board of California since January 2017, and is trained in Basic Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation. Since becoming a licensed midwife, she has worked at two of L.A.’s premiere Birth Centers, but currently manages a busy private practice that has served hundreds of women and families. Through her work she has been able to forge relationships and work in collaboration with many physicians and MFMs, doulas, childbirth educators, and body workers.
Abby views pregnancy and birth as a transcendent experience, one that transforms a woman into the mother she will become. She strives to provide individualized, holistic care and enjoys building strong relationships with her clients. At the crux of her midwifery care is a foundation that believes in “mothering the mother,” providing care and support through life’s biggest transition and beyond. Abby has created a practice that supports the whole body—mind, body, and spirit—one that values the uniqueness of each client she has the honor of supporting. Abby recognizes that within each woman rests the innate ability and intuition to make the best decisions for her and her baby and encourages each of her clients to recognize those abilities through informed decision making. Abby is humbled every day to be carrying the torch of the many midwives who came before her and is grateful to every family that allows her to share in this sacred space with them.
